If you wish to save some money, call the used book sellers first to see if they have the copies in stock and then if you cannot obtain a copy through them call the publisher directly. 2007-08 List of Novels for Middle School English
The PCA Middle School English Department believes that the Truth of God's Word is eternal and that classic literature presents eternal themes. Through critical reading, thinking, and discussion, we, as instructors, desire for our students to comprehend that through Christ “lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” so that “no one will be able to deceive [them] with persuasive arguments” (Colossians 2:3-4).
In an effort to encourage students to appreciate literature and become life-long learners, students will be reading three novels as well as literary works in their anthology during the upcoming school year. As teachers, we feel that student comprehension can be enhanced through annotation of literary texts. As a service to the PCA community and also as a fund raiser, The Friends of the Library purchase the novels for less than the price that parents can purchase them on their own. The business office will bill the parents unless The Friends of the Library have been notified otherwise.
