SUMMER READING REQUIREMENTS
Upcoming fifth through eighth grade students are expected to read two books during the summer, one book of their choice, which can be a work of fiction or a biography, and one assigned book. When they begin school, students will be tested on the assigned book.
The assigned book has a list of questions that the student will need to answer. These questions are due the first day of class. The questions and summer reading assignments are available below.
The book of choice for grades 5-6 (fiction) and grades 7-8 (biography) should be at least 100 pages long, an appropriate reading level for their age group and appropriate to our school’s philosophy. Harry Potter books are not acceptable. There is a writing assignment that will be done in class on the first day of class. Students need to bring their book of choice on the first day of class. The guidelines for the writing assignment may be found on the website for students to review.
We look forward to working with your student in the upcoming year. If you have any questions about the summer reading requirements, questions or assignments, please do not hesitate to contact the Middle School offices at 972-930-4112.
