In addition to the gold, Sophomore Maddie Bell and senior Alberto Garcia-Olivares also etched their names in the PCA record books. Maddie became only the second Lion swimmer to medal in an individual race at state, taking home the bronze medal in the 500 free. Alberto became the first PCA male swimmer to final at state and to score points. Alberto placed sixth in the 200 free and eighth in the 100 free. His four points allowed the boys team to tie for 15th place, meanwhile the Lady Lions captured sixth, a mere three points out of fourth. Tiffani Hall added to the girls' point total with a fourth place touch in the 100 free, while Kathryn Heasley grabbed fifth place in the 50 free with a school-record 27.72. Finally, the 400 free relay squad, comprised of Meredith Reid, Hall, Heasley and Bell, swam to a fourth-place finish.
In the 200 free, Lindsay Lennington finished ninth, first alternate for the finals, and Meredith Reid placed 11th. Lennington and Reid switched their order of finish in the 100 free with Reid placing 12th and Lennington 14th. Chandler Ferrell finished 14th in the 200 I.M., and 16th in the 100 breast. Caroline Williams also came in 13th in the 100 breast. The boys 200 medley and 200 free relay teams established new PCA team records but failed to qualify for the finals. The combination of Garcia-Olivares, Michael Shell, Spencer Davis and Devon Fenninger placed 14th in the medley and 15th in the free relay.
Congratulations to Coach Peron Jones and the PCA Lion Swim Team!
