Huckabee Honored at Zig Ziglar Event

Zig Ziglar is revered by many as the father of motivational speaking. After traveling five millions miles, publishing 27 books and motivating thousands, Mr. Hilary Hinton “Zig” Ziglar is, as in his own words, a “meaningful specific.” His books and rallies focus on personal growth, leadership, sales, faith, family and success.
While his work inspired many, it is Mr. Ziglar’s character of integrity, hope and servant leadership that separates him from the rest.
Through the shared vision of the Prestonwood Foundation and Prestonwood Christian Academy, the Zig Ziglar Servant Leadership Award was established with the purpose of encapsulating the legacy of Zig Ziglar by annually naming a recipient who embodies the very essence of his servant leadership. It is a privilege and a responsibility to carry on the legacy of Mr. Ziglar’s name and his servant leadership example for generations yet to come.
2009 Inaugural Recipient, Mike Huckabee
Serving as the inaugural recipient of the Zig Ziglar Servant Leadership Award, former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee was chosen for his values, integrity and Christ-like attitude in all he does. Whether he’s known for campaigning for the Republican nomination for President of the United States, assisting Republicans running for nationwide office through HuckPac, or leading a health movement across the nation through his own weight loss, Mike Huckabee remains a man of integrity.
It is because of this man’s character he was chosen for this award. Not for what he’s done, but for how he’s done it. On April 14, 2009, Gov. Huckabee will be honored under the namesake of one who represented the same type of leadership: Mr. Zig Ziglar.
Save April 14, 2009 for the Zig Ziglar Servant Leadership Award banquet to be held at the Embassy Suites in Frisco. Sponsorships (including tables) are available now at ZigZiglarAward.com. Individual ticket sales will begin March 1, 2009. |

The Bunny Slippers Come Out
On Dec. 2, PCA faculty was decked out in their favorite jeans and comfy slippers to help promote the PCA Fund Challenge. To help initiate family conversations about the PCA Fund and the many, many items it provides for the school, the students were challenged to reach for 100% class participation in PCA Fund contributions. During the week-long event there were many poignant stories shared about the giving hearts and spirit of the PCA community. What began as a challenge to wear jeans, resulted in countless family conversations about Prestonwood Christian Academy and the incredible blessing it is to be a part of the PCA community. Along with the wonderful testimonies, there was a wonderful opportunity to discuss the practical need for funding and financial stewardship.
By supporting the PCA Fund, we ensure a legacy of:
Academic excellence Faculty of Distinction
Curriculum Expansion Student Program Enhancement
State of the Art Technology Athletic programs of integrity
Comprehensive Fine Arts Programs Spiritual Development Programs
Student Support Programs Family enrichment Programs
The challenge was a tremendous success with the top two participating classes in each grade earning bragging rights of a day of jeans, slippers and cookie cake. The school wide participation is 56% with well over $300,000 raised towards this year’s goal of $700,000.

The Final Master Plan: How Does it Affect Me Today and Tomorrow?
|
Click below to view Master Plan video>>

By Mike Beeson
Those of you who attended last month’s State of School were reminded of the PCA Initiatives which presented evidence of the final campus Master Plan for Prestonwood Christian Academy. Over the past 24 months, PCA stakeholders have been busy planning state-of-the-art facilities for students of all ages and faculty. Highlights include:
- Stand-alone Middle School facilities for academic, art and athletic programming.
- Additional facilities for Upper School arts and athletics including a Performing Arts Center.
- Lower School facilities for co-curricular and specialty programs, physical education, lunch and multi-purpose, and an Early Childhood Center for our youngest students.
After learning of the Master Plan, some may ask themselves, “How does the final campus Master Plan affect me today and tomorrow?” As fundraising for the master plan will not commence for several years, we ask you today to begin praying over the master plan, and of God’s plans for your involvement in the completion of the master plan. In addition, God may direct those of you who have been blessed financially to help advance a project sooner.
In several years, each PCA stakeholder will be asked to prayerfully consider a multi-year gift, enabling us to accomplish God’s vision and our place in it. With new and improved academic, art and athletic facilities, the vision God has given for the campus of Prestonwood Christian Academy provides exceptional facilities that allow for additional development opportunities for students of all ages. |
