WHAT SHOULD I KNOW ABOUT UNIFORMS & SPIRIT WEAR?

  • Parker Uniforms is the supplier for PCA.

  • Store hours are:
    Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday 10:00 a.m. — 5:00 p.m.
    Tuesday 10:00 a.m. — 7:00 p.m.
    Saturday 10:00 a.m. — 3:00 p.m.

  • You can shop on-line at www.parkersu.com. Our web ID number is DA242121.
  • Be aware that anything purchased can be returned within 90 days if the tags have not been removed and it has not been washed, worn or altered.
  • Parker has an Early Bird Sale offering 10% off during the month of June.
  • The Parent Teacher Fellowship (PTF) Used Uniform Sale for all grades is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, May 28, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Thursday, May 29 from 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. in the Upper School Student Life Center. Bring plenty of checks as each purchase requires a separate check

The Hub at Prestonwood Christian Academy

  • Purchase required field trip shirts and other optional attire not available through Parker School Uniforms at Back to School Day on August 20, 2007.
  • The Hub Online is also available 24/7 for your school spirit wear needs. The Hub on campus in the Upper School Atrium hours of operation during the school year are Monday from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m.
WHAT ABOUT SCHOOL SUPPLIES?

WHAT ABOUT SCHOOL SUPPLIES?

  • Pre-K and Kindergarten pay a school supply fee rather than purchase supplies.
  • Grades 1-12 can purchase pre-packaged supplies through Parent Teacher Fellowship (PTF). Order forms will be available late April on the school website and are due by mid May 2008.
  • Grades 1-12 individual supply lists will be available online beginning June 1.

IS THERE REQUIRED SUMMER READING?
  • Grades 5-12 have required summer reading.
  • This list and all related forms will be available online June 1. The cost of your child(ren)'s novels will be added to your account unless you request to purchase them on your own.
HOW DO I GET IN A CARPOOL?
  • Zip code lists will be available upon request beginning Monday, August 20 at Back to School Day. Four carpool number cards will be furnished for each family with Students in Pre-Kindergarten through 6th grade (extras may be requested.) Students grades 7-12 do not use numbers. Please e-mail Meg Manuel to receive a zip code list.
  • Directions and maps indicating drop-off and pick-up locations will come in the summer mailing and will also be available at Back to School Day. Parents are asked to take advantage of the designated locations rather than parking and escorting your child into the building.
WHAT FOOD SERVICE IS AVAILABLE?

Main Street Cafe

  • Main Street Cafe at Prestonwood can provide both hot and cold lunches. Prices and information will be included in the summer mailing and will be available at Back to School Day.
  • Information on setting up a lunch account will be provided with the pricing information in the summer mailing and online. Students keep an account balance that eliminates the need for them to carry cash.
  • Students always have the option of bringing a lunch from home.
WHAT ARE THE SCHOOL HOURS?
  • Lower School
    • Grades PK-K
      8:15 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
    • Grades 1- 4
      8:15 a.m. - 3:15 p.m.
    • Grades PK-4
      Wednesday – 2:00 p.m.
  • Middle School
    • 8:00 a.m. - 3:20 p.m.
    • Wednesday - 2:00 p.m.
  • Upper School
    • 7:45 a.m. - 3:20 p.m.
    • Wednesday – 2:30 p.m.
  • Students need to be in their seats at the start of the school or they will be considered tardy.
IS EXTENDED CARE AVAILABLE?

Extended Day is available on actual school days for students in Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade.

  • Extended Day registration information will be included in the summer mailing and will be available online.
  • For students in Pre-Kindergarten or Kindergarten, Extended Day is available after school from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for an additional fee of $210 per month.
  • For students in 1st through 8th grade, Extended Day is available from 3:15 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for an additional fee of $190 per month.
  • For students in Pre-Kindergarten or Kindergarten with older siblings who need to be supervised from 2:30 p.m. until 3:15 p.m., Extended Day is available. The rates are as follows:
    • $54 per month for Pre-K 4-5 day, Pre-K 5, and Kindergarten Students
    • $32 per month for Pre-K 4-3 day Students
    • $22 per month for Pre-K 4-2 day Students
  • Drop-ins are accepted with advanced notice for a fee of $10.00 per hour.
WHEN DO THE BACK TO SCHOOL ACTIVITIES BEGIN?
  • Keep Monday, August 18, 2008 open for Back to School Day, which consists of Meet the Teacher, Welcome Luncheon, New Student Orientation, and All School Worship. The Hub, our school spirit store, will be open this day for you to purchase required field trip shirts and other optional attire not available through Parker School Uniforms.
  • The first day of school is Wednesday, August 20. The PTF "Boohoo/Yahoo Breakfast" will be immediately following the morning carpool.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE IMPORTANT DATES?
WILL WE RECEIVE A STUDENT SUMMER REVIEW PACKET?
  • An official School Calendar will be included in the summer mailing and the Back to School Guide in July.
  • Summer reading requirements for students entering grades 1-12 will be available beginning June 1.
  • An optional summer review packet for students entering grades 1-4 will be available June 1 for pick up at the front desk of the Elementary Education Building.

WHEN CAN I GET A SCHOOL DIRECTORY?

The school directory is published in August and is available at Back to School Day. All address, phone and contact information changes should be made in your online family profile through the school website. Before your online profile has been set up, you can direct this information to the Records Manager, Meg Manuel, or by phone at 972-930-4007.

 

HOW DO I FIND OUT ABOUT CLASS SCHEDULING?
  • Grades 5-8 — The Middle School Office will send a letter mid April containing important orientation dates and times.
  • Grades 9-12 — Please contact Debbie Considine in the Guidance Office or 972-930-4012 to set up a scheduling appointment.

 

WHERE DO I GO TO ACCESS THE ONLINE INFORMATION
AND OTHER IMPORTANT STUFF?
  • The Prestonwood Christian Academy website is www.prestonwoodchristian.org.
  • Most of the school's communication is done via e-mail. It is extremely important for you to check your primary e-mail account regularly.
    • If you have questions about what the primary e-mail account is, contact Meg Manuel, Records Manager or check online in your Family Profile.
  • Edline is where student grades and assignments can be viewed, as well as grade level newsletters.
    • All Edline login/passwords are mailed by US Post by the Technology Department.
    • If you have any questions or problems regarding Edline the Technology Department requires you to e-mail edline@prestonwoodchristian.org to better serve you!

The publications below are provided campus-wide available from Prestonwood Christian Academy. Lions Pride
The Lions Pride is a quarterly magazine published by Prestonwood Christian Academy, providing parents, students, grandparents, alumni, staff and friends of PCA information on news and events at PCA.
The Lion’s Roar is a weekly email publication of Prestonwood Christian Academy, providing parents, students, grandparents, alumni, staff and friends of PCA up-to-date information on current news and events at PCA.
The Lion’s Roar

The Lion’s Roar is a weekly e-mail publication of Prestonwood Christian Academy, providing parents, students, grandparents, alumni, staff of PCA up-to-date information on current news and events at PCA. The Lions Roar is an internal newsletter provides divisional specific news and information (Lower School, Middle School, Upper School, Academic, Athletic, Parent Organizations, Prestonwood.) This publication is published during the school year only (newsletters are not published during the summer.)

The Communications Department receives a list from the Admissions Department to add families to our distribution list. If you do not receive a Lions Roar in your e-mail the first week of school, please e-mail Info@prestonwoodchristian.org. Please provide your name, and PCA student affiliation and grade for verification.

ARE THERE SUMMER CLASSES OFFERED?

Summers at PrestonwoodWe are proud to offer a growing selection of summer programs for students and adults alike. A creative, supportive learning environment provides the setting for planned programs in academics, arts, enrichment and athletics. We think you will find plenty of opportunities to create the schedule that fits your needs.

Register before May 15, to receive Early Bird pricing (listed). On May 15, a late fee of $25 will be assessed on each registration.
