California Courts Give OK to Same-Sex Marriage

California Courts Give OK to Same-Sex MarriagePositioning the battle for homosexual marriage in the same vein as the civil rights movement which fought for equality among the races, California Chief Justice Ronald M. George issued an historic opinion on the issue of same-sex marriage. Noting that the court was ahead of public sentiment on this issue, Chief Justice George looked at the historical California case striking down the anti-miscegenation laws over 50 years prior. The case has brought sharp criticism from many and high praise from the homosexual community as well as Hollywood elites. In fact, a number of the Hollywood homosexuals have already stated their plans to wed under the new law in California, most notably is probably Ellen DeGeneres who announced on her TV show her plans to marry long-time girlfriend Portia de Rossi.

Several online polls show that public sentiment is actually in favor of the court’s decision. This poll, taken from the LA Times, shows overwhelming support of the court’s position to uphold same-sex marriages.

England Faces Reality of Abortion in Minors

The Sunday Times in England recently released information obtained by the Department of Health that girls as young as 12 years old are having abortions. While the number of girls having abortions at this age remains relatively small, the reality is that there are girls as young as 12 having the procedure and it is commonly known that young women who have one abortion are at greater risk to have multiple abortions. The debate about condoms and the pill continue in England without much focus on abstinence as a viable alternative for young girls. Look for the number of abortions in minors to continue to rise not only in Europe, but in the United States as well.
