Along with Prestonwood Baptist Church, PCA North Commences Construction of 37,000 Square Foot Building to Expand Learning and Co-Curricular Activities

Prestonwood Christian Academy North and Prestonwood Baptist Church have broken ground and construction has commenced at the Prosper campus. The $12 million expansion will include seven new classrooms, a second gym, and space for future growth including a shelled in space that will add another 10 classrooms when completed.

The joint construction project between PCA and Prestonwood Baptist Church creates room for growth at both the school and for the church's student ministry. The anticipated completion of the new building is scheduled for August 2020, in time for the 2020-21 school year in which PCA North will serve students in PreK-3 through 10th grade.

"The learning that will take place here over the years for our Middle and Upper School students will have a far-reaching impact," said PCA's Head of School, Dr. Larry Taylor. "From STEM to outdoor learning, to the arts and collaborative spaces, our students will be challenged to use their minds in a rigorous way in an effort to bring glory to the Lord."

In its final buildout, the expansion will provide space for more than 350 students and allow area for the older Middle and Upper School students to be separated from the Lower School.

"The Prosper region and 380 Corridor in North Texas is exploding with growth and so is our church," said Dr. Jack Graham, Pastor of Prestonwood Baptist Church. "More space is on the way to reach people with the Gospel and teach God's Word. A huge marker going forward as Prestonwood continues to fulfill our mission."

The new building will not only create more physical room for PCA North students and faculty but provides opportunity for broader curriculum needs as well. The new classrooms will include will include two science labs for expanded Upper School offerings, a technology lab, several multi-use learning spaces, and an art and ceramics lab.

PCA North is thrilled to work alongside PBC in order to create shared space which is beneficial to both ministries. While funding is coming from both organizations, the ability to share space for weekends and weekday uses allows facility usage to be maximized.

"Our prayer is that this expansion paves the way for many more students in the 380 Corridor to receive a Kingdom education with a biblical perspective, rigorous academics and caring faculty and staff."

Prestonwood Christian Academy serves more than 1,600 students enrolled at five campuses as part of its school system. PCA Plano serves Pre-K3 through 12th grade. PCA North in Prosper (Pre-K3 through 9th grade) is celebrating its sixth school year with more than 220 students and is now enrolling through 10th grade as it grows to the first graduating class of 2023. PCAplus is celebrating record-breaking enrollment in its virtual academy, and part-time students, and has been serving students for more than 10 years. St. Timothy Christian Academy is a K through 12th grade school for students with learning differences which joined PCA's School System in 2017. The King's Academy in South Dallas opened its doors to PreK-4 through 1st Grade students on Aug. 19, 2019. Prestonwood Christian Academy School System has been recognized as having one of the strongest Christian education programs in the country. Each school places great value on the growth of students' spiritual health, scholastic endeavors, and co-curricular activities. Tantamount to its spiritual development plan, and intentional biblical worldview training, is PCA's rigorous Liberal Arts academic program.
