Lower School Plano

Hours of Operation:

Mon, Tues., Thurs., Fri.: 7:50 a.m. -- 4:00 p.m.
Wed.: 7:50 a.m.– 2:
20 p.m.

Circulation:
  • Pre-K students visit the library every week for stories and reading time. Students begin checking out books in Kindergarten
  • Students in Kindergarten are allowed to check out one book for a period of one week and visit the library once a week
  • Students in First through Fourth Grades are allowed to check out two books for a period of of one week and visit the library once a week
  • Fifth and Sixth Grade students visit the library once or twice a month
  • Students in Fifth and Sixth Grades are allowed to check out two books at a time
  • Renewal is available and must be made with the book present
  • Students are able to access the library card catalogue from home using https://pcalibrary.follettdestiny.com
  • Students must return materials on time in order to check out additional books. If a student forgets their book on library day, they are asked to use other library materials
  • Book fines are assessed on damaged and lost books exclusively. Reports are given the student's homeroom teacher each week to inform students of their record. Reports are emailed home quarterly
Technology:
  • Students are expected to follow the Acceptable Use Policies outlined in the Parent-Student Handbook
  • All of the resource databases subscribed to by PCA can be searched by going to the library’s website; click on databases; choose the catalog tab and then use the OneSearch button. Information for accessing and searching the databases individually is available in the library.
Discipline:
  • Students are not to bring food, candy, gum, or drinks into the media center for any reason.
  • Students are expected to understand that the media center is a place of learning and for research purposes. They are going to be excused if they cannot show proper respect for the facility, materials, and other library users, as well as those in charge.
  • Loud talking and disruptive behavior is not acceptable and will not be tolerated.

Upper School Plano

Hours of operation:

Mon, Tues., Thurs.. Fri.: 7:30 a.m.- 4:15 p.m.
Wed.: 7:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Circulation:
  • Students are allowed to check out 5 books for a period of two weeks--renewal is available if needed. Renewals may be made by email or in person.
  • Students are able to access the card catalog from anywhere there is web access using their Canvas accounts. Students must return the materials on time to avoid not being allowed more books until the record is cleared.
  • Book fines are assessed on damaged or lost books but not overdue. Reports are emailed every 9 weeks to remind students of what items are still out.
  • Any books not returned before the summer break will be billed through the accounting office.
Technology:
  • Students are expected to follow the acceptable use policies which are outlined in the student handbook for technology. Students are told to use the approved web sites which PCA owns or those approved by their teacher.
  • All of the resource databases subscribed to by PCA can be searched by going thru Rapid Identity (https://portal.rapididentity.com).
  • Students are taught the proper printer to use while in the media center and are expected to abide by the rules governing that printer.

North Campus

The PCA North Campus Library is open during school hours. Students visit the library once a week with their class and are always welcome to return and check out books during their lunchtime. If you need to visit the library after school for any reason, please contact Judy Steen at jsteen@prestonwoodchristian.org

  • Students in Third through Fifth Grades are allowed to check out three books for a period of one week and visit the library once a week

  • Students are able to access the library card catalogue from home using http://library.prestonwoodchristian.org
  • Students must return materials on time in order to check out additional books. If a student forgets their book on library day, they are welcome to return their books the next day during lunch and may check out more books.
  • Book fines are assessed on damaged and lost books exclusively. Reports are given the student's homeroom teacher as needed to notify students of their record.
Technology:
  • Students are encouraged to bring their iPads to library class in order to search for books on the Destiny Quest app. Students may also take AR tests during this time.
  • Students are expected to follow the Acceptable Use Policies outlined in the Parent-Student Handbook
  • Students are taught to search for information by accessing the databases. Library lessons help students to learn to use these databases successfully.
Discipline:

Students are asked to show the same respect in the library that they would show with any other teacher.
