Plano - Upper School

Welcome to Prestonwood Christian Academy’s Plano Campus Upper School where students are achieving PCA’s Portrait of a Graduate. All schools, including PCA, proclaim goals of developing college-preparatory skills as well as a certain level of fundamental life skills. Understandably, the portrait of an 18-year old’s character, work ethic, or academic prowess is far from being complete, knowing that the development of one’s mind, heart, and overall maturity continues over a lifetime. Scripture provides insight in that even Jesus matured in four areas; this is something for all of us to contemplate. Indeed, the maturity cycle does not end when one receives a diploma; however, there are foundational training strategies that certainly increase the probability of a child internalizing a desired belief system, developing learning habits, and genuinely living out a Christ-like character. Although the primary molders of these “portraits” are the parents, the school’s influence plays a significant part. It is our prayer that our Upper School students graduate PCA with the following foundational desired outcomes: 1) To fear and respect God, 2) To practice a strong work ethic coupled with an eternal perspective, 3) To seek a rigorous intellectual path, 4) To embrace the creative nature of God through a strong liberal arts education and 5) To demonstrate the love and attitude of Christ Jesus to all people.

In the Upper School at PCA, our commitment to Kingdom education is foundational as together with parents we encourage our students to adopt a Colossians 3:23 mindset. In cultivating an atmosphere where students, teachers and parents embrace spiritual growth and academic excellence as a primary focus, it is exciting to see students establish goals and work diligently to exceed them. It is through this pursuit of excellence that students reach their full potential.

Prestonwood Christian Academy provides a rigorous college-preparatory program based upon each student’s individual needs. The curriculum integrates a biblical worldview to enhance and reinforce the mastery of core knowledge while encouraging Christian virtue. The curriculum is built around the classical education of absolutes and time-honored ideas of human culture, emphasizing the Great Works of Western Civilization. The high school transcript becomes the official document representing the student’s work ethic to colleges and future employers. Students realize they are building a high school resume which demonstrates their academic work, activity involvement and service to others in our community and around the world. Students are encouraged to challenge themselves academically, develop strong study and time management skills.

Students have the opportunity to develop relationships with fellow classmates, teachers, coaches and administrators. In addition, special programs are offered in the areas of athletics, theatre, band, choir, Student Leadership Institute (SLi), Lions Scholar Program, Future Problem Solvers, The Great Books Program, Academic Decathlon and Mock Trial.

As Upper School Principal, it is my privilege to partner with our families in Kingdom education as we continue to meet the needs of each student and family. It is a blessing to provide consistent, biblically based education that allows students a safe environment to prepare for their respective futures while enabling them to strengthen their spiritual walk.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Wendy Morris
Upper School Principal
