Coach Baker was born and raised in Plano TX and has been lifelong member of Prestonwood Baptist Church. Early in his playing career Coach Baker was a high-level junior tennis player in the area, he graduated from Plano Senior High School and received a tennis scholarship to attend John Brown University.

After graduating from John Brown with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Kinesiology, Coach Baker returned home to Plano where he began working in the tennis community at clubs in the area.

Coach Baker has previously served as a coach at Parish Episcopal School in Dallas and as an assistant coach at Dallas Baptist University. While coaching at DBU, the Men's team went to the National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association’s national tournament each year during his time with the school as well as making a final four showing in 2017. The Women's team were in the top 25 in the NCAA Division II rankings, made their first ever trip to the NCAA tournament. This team also won the National Christian Athletic Association's National Championship. During his time at Dallas Baptist University he received his Master’s in Sports Management. Coach Baker now owns and operates his own Sports Psychology/Fitness program called NexGen Tennis, through the NexGen Tennis program, Baker is helping junior players as they look towards the future. Coach Baker’s desire is to help prepare these athletes to play at a collegiate level and making available resources to do so.
