After dismissing from chapel, students move into their advisory group where they transition from being a spectator in chapel to a participant in learning to study the Bible for themselves. PCA students are placed in Advisory groups beginning in the Seventh Grade. Beginning in the Ninth Grade, students are in the same group until they graduate. The goal is to allow students to get to know one another and their faculty advisor in a small group setting. The purpose is to establish relationships built on trust and to provide biblically-based encouragement and wisdom to help facilitate spiritual development and maturity in each student.
Our Campus Ministry Team helps to equip and encourage our advisors. An advisory notebook filled with helpful tips and useful information is produced and presented to our advisors at the beginning of each school year and our advisors also attend additional training during the year. Advisors are encouraged to challenge their advisory group to set meaningful personal goals each year and work to help each student achieve their goals. Advisors are trained on a various personality types they will have in their groups and the best way to connect with each student on a personal level. And advisors are given opportunities to walk with students through the daily grind of school and life – not only during their scheduled advisory times, but also on service project days and other opportunities that arise in the lives of our students.
