Indoor large-group gatherings and events will be very limited. Group activities may be reimagined to take place outdoors, within larger meeting spaces, or will occur in a virtual space. Chapels will be realigned for smaller groups, both in content and location, and as a last resort via video distribution. We will continue to move forward in accordance with public health guidelines and social distancing recommendations provided to us.
Regular times will be designated for hand washing and access to hand sanitizer will be provided throughout the day, with a specific focus on arrival to school, entering the classroom, and before meals. New, intensified cleaning protocols are in place for classrooms, restrooms, and other shared spaces. Frequently touched surfaces (such as restrooms and doorknobs) will be cleaned throughout the day with an EPA-approved disinfectant. Limitations will be placed on the number of people who can be in restrooms and other shared spaces at the same time.
PCA greatly values the student athletics experience, and we are working on the best way to offer a robust experience for our student athletes during the coming school year. The Athletic Department is currently working with TAPPS and the County health officials to determine the timeline and protocols to reopen practices and competition. While our website states the opening dates for both Upper School and Middle School along with the season schedules, please be prepared for adjustments. Once decisions are made by TAPPS, we will revise our return-to-play protocols, in addition to updating the original opening dates and schedule.
Clinic space will be offered for well-childcare, separate from sick care. Anyone with illness symptoms will be removed to a separate location and recommended procedures will be followed for isolation and contact tracing, if needed. Staff and teachers are required to self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms before coming onto campus each day. Each day parents must ensure they do not send a child to school on campus if the child has COVID-19 symptoms.
New locations for classrooms, activity period groups, and advisories will minimize student travel patterns around the school. New classroom layouts and hallway walking patterns will preserve social distancing. Furniture will be arranged in a way to promote social distancing.
Face coverings will be required for faculty, staff and Middle School and Upper Schools students as well as all visitors while on campus. Faculty will guide students when it is permissible to lower the face coverings (if the location and activity allows for social distancing). Masks for faculty, staff, students and will be supplied by PCA. Lower School students will not be required to wear masks, but it will be an option should parents wish to require it for their children.
