“ . . . to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up” - Ephesians 4:12

A capital campaign to better equip the PCA family to influence our homes, church and communities for Christ, building upon our strong foundation and reinforcing our extraordinary legacy of establishing students for life.

The proposed renovations to PCA’s Fine Arts facilities, as well as the addition of a Black Box Theatre will be a huge step forward for our school. These changes to our facilities will allow for increased programming and opportunity for our theatre department as well as greater efficiency and effectiveness for our band, choir, and art departments. I couldn’t be more excited about what lies ahead for our Fine Arts department, and can’t wait to “move in” to our outstanding new and renovated facilities.

Joel T. Rutherford
Director of Fine Arts

Our vision, our heart, is one Division under one roof providing unity, community, security and identity for our Middle School students.

Middle School Building

Equip our students with the appropriate tools and resources

The new Middle School building will be comprised of approximately 60,000 square feet located adjacent to the Leadership Center and just east of Joshua Plaza.

In its final build-out, the Middle School building will provide full programming for over 400 Middle School students. The new building will create physical unity for Middle School students and greater faculty collaboration and efficiency. In addition, it will provide for more effective administrative oversight.

Middle School building will include:

  • Collaboration space
  • Innovation Labs for each grade level
  • A new Media Center with Middle School resources
  • Learning Labs dedicated to the needs of grades 5-8
  • Two Art Labs
  • Two Technology Labs including robotics
  • Outdoor Learning space

Fine Arts Facility

To meet the needs of our growing Fine Arts program, we will renovate approximately 20,000 square feet of our facility.

Fine Arts renovations will include:

  • Black Box Theater
  • Visual Arts studio
  • Arts common area
  • New Band Hall and renovated Choir space with practice rooms
  • Mock Trial Courtroom
  • Concessions for all outdoor events on Gateway Plaza

New improvements to support the growth and development of all of our students

These new facilities will provide abundant opportunities for continued academic success throughout the school.

Our Impact

Equip our students with opportunities to share and exercise their faith

Seeing our growth, acknowledging each student’s unique needs, and desiring to continue raising the standard of learning is what makes our Prestonwood Christian Academy community strong.

Our new facilities will provide:

  • An age-appropriate learning environment for all students
  • A dedicated space for Middle School students
  • Optimal settings to interact and build community
  • Necessary resources for a robust Fine Arts curriculum
  • Additional space in the Lower School and Upper School for future programmatic growth

Our Goal

Equip the next generation of PCA students to be established for life.

Our prayer is to raise the $20 million needed for this important component of our campus plan through the EQUIP campaign.

Budget:
  • Middle School Building - $17 million
  • Fine Arts Facility - $3 million

Our Opportunity

Without a designated Middle School space, students are divided between buildings, required to share labs, classrooms, libraries, and media with the Lower and Upper Schools, and are limited in their opportunities to interact with one another, a key need at their developmental stage.

Additionally, our vibrant Fine Arts program is experiencing exciting growth that we will encourage and enhance with the addition of new spaces in the renovated Fine Arts facility.

The new permanent concessions area that will be located in Gateway Plaza will greatly enhance the school’s ability to serve the PCA family during outdoor events and activities in a more efficient and welcoming manner.

Our Vision

Equip our students to embrace biblical truth, strive for excellence, and model Christ.

We envision a Middle School building that will create interactive, age-appropriate student meeting spaces, resulting in a sense of identity and togetherness. We also envision a dedicated Fine Arts facility that will allow us to be more efficient in training Disciples of Christ who will influence their peers, neighborhoods and communities for Christ.

Frequently Asked Questions

How will this project advance the mission and vision of Prestonwood Christian Academy?

The Vision Statement of PCA is “To advance a Christian school of excellence through Kingdom education…” Providing our students with age and function-appropriate spaces wherein to grow and prosper academically, socially and spiritually is key to fulfilling this important objective. An added benefit to moving Middle School students to a new building is that it creates space in our Lower School and Upper School for future programmatic growth.

What benefit will this project provide for my child if he/she is not in Middle School?

A gift to the EQUIP campaign, is an investment in PCA’s global mission of impacting young ladies and young men for eternity.

With approximately 75% of PCA’s Middle School students and 40% of Upper School students participating in the Fine Arts program, the renovated Fine Arts space will have a far-reaching impact on our student body. The new Black Box Theater, expanded Band Room, new Mock Trial Room, renovated Choir Room and expanded and enhanced Visual Arts studio, will provide quality, function-specific spaces for our students to thrive in the area of the arts.

Additionally, the new permanent concessions area that will be located in Gateway Plaza will greatly enhance the school’s ability to serve the PCA family during outdoor events and activities in a more efficient and welcoming manner.

Where is the primary funding for the Middle School building and the Fine Arts renovation coming from?

The primary funding for these projects will come from capital gifts given or pledged by our PCA family. Our goal is to avoid incurring any long-term debt for this important capital improvement project. Historically, our PCA family has always responded generously to capital needs and we anticipate that they will do so again on this occasion.

Why is a capital campaign the best way to raise the funds for this project?

A capital campaign is an extraordinary effort for a specific capital project for a defined period of time. A capital campaign enables the school to raise the funds for these projects without impacting the school’s operating budget or without compromising important programs offered by the school.

Is the school seeking any outside funding?

Yes. Although the vast majority of the funding for this capital project will come from our immediate PCA family, the school is approaching several charitable foundations for financial support. However, historically, charitable foundations that lend their financial support do so only after they have seen that the school’s staff, families and Board of Trustees have done their part to fund the project.

Can I make a gift to the EQUIP campaign and fulfill it over multiple years?

Yes. Many donors will make a pledge to the EQUIP campaign and fulfill it over a period of up to 3 years. In many cases, this will allow donors to make a larger gift to the EQUIP campaign as they have an extended period of time in which to fulfill their pledge. PCA’s Office of Development can help arrange a plan that works for you. This may include a scheduled yearly installment, monthly recurring installments and a variety of other options.

When is the anticipated completion date for each project?

Assuming the necessary funding is received, the anticipated completion of the Fine Arts renovation is scheduled to be August 2019. The Middle School building is scheduled to be completed by January 2020.
